Aleksi Buhler Ms. Lehmann English 1-1A 20 March 2019 My Version of As You Like It If I were to write the play As You Like It, I would have changed quite a bit to my liking. The costumes would be more modern day but would still reflect the characters. The sound effects and music would still fit what is going on and the moods, but I would have more modern-day music. For the setting, I would like to have them still start the play in a castle but have them end up in the city instead of a forest. The interpretation would still be serious and silly. The costumes would be simple and fit each scene. They will also reflect on each person’s personality, like if the character is peppy and happy, they would have an outfit that’s peppy and colorful. I would have the outfits resemble what side the character is on. For example, I would make the bad guys outfits darker and edgy, so it’s more obvious, and the good characters would have lighter outfits. I would make them nicer since it is in a castle, but not as fancy as the old days. There will still be dresses, but simple ones, not the big fluffy ones. The play would have different songs for different actions. Whenever Orlando is talking about Rosalind, I would like a love song played. For any fights, an intense song should be played. Just a different song that fits the mood for the actions. For the sound effects, I would like them to not be too obvious. I would want them to sound like the ones from movies, and to fit what’s going on. I would want the props and setting to have a lot of work put into them. The props would look real and the settings would make you feel like you’re there. For the settings, I would like them to still be in a castle at the beginning, but instead of ending up in the forest, I want them to be in the city. For the acting, I would like it to be the same because I think it sounds good. When the actors speak, I would like a modern-day way of speaking, that way it’s easier to be understood by more people I would put lots of time and effort into the play to make it good. I think this play has a good story, but I would still touch it up a little and add my changes, so it’s more modern-day, and so it’s the way I like it.
